Unfortunately, we can't save wild salmon and steelhead with the creation of some watershed keeper group. Nope, we have to take a w-holistic approach in order to save our wild salmon and wild steelhead or lose them forever. What does that mean, you ask? I've got some fantastic habitat here in Idaho for spawning and rearing (even with the incredible forest fires we've experienced, especially in the the years 2007, 2012, and 2013). But does that make a wild salmon/steelhead recovery possible? NO, it does not.
The ocean has its periods of production and its periods where it lacks production and then there is the whole acidification argument and then those nuts with the iron shavings on board their ships. And truthfully, we don't know jack about our salmon at sea (a fact that the inaction agencies want you to focus on rather than the slaughter that occurs in the transition zone).
And so, that brings me to that other very important part of the w-holistic approach to wild salmon and steelhead recovery, which. uhm, your inaction agencies fail to mention in their bogus biop that builds upon the illegal biop of 2007. They even brag that they've already completed most of the work. My God, they must think the replacement for Judge Redden is already in their pocket. Seriously, either they truly have the new federal judge overseeing the whole salmon dealio in the Columbia/Snake or they assume no judge could be as salmon-centric as Redden. Therefore they ignore the retired judge's last orders and don't consider improving the migratory habitat (i.e. removing some worthless dams on the lower Snake River) for our wild salmon and steelhead.
You all may be fine and dandy and maybe even be beaten down by the fact that the inaction agencies continue to ignore the one thing that might actually save our wild salmon and steelhead by focusing on tributary habitat projects and estuary projects while they kill sea lions, predatory birds and pikeminnow ad throw up (I hate dead languages therefore I don't often play along).
Listen, I know they got pinhead who shall not be named who heads the all-powerful committee in Congress in their inactive pockets or he has them (more likely the case), but look the facts and the law (nor the economics, I might add) aren't on their side so for the love of all things that are wild and free and currently supporting the survival of 137 species in the Pacific Northwest CALL THEIR BLUFF and send their worthless BIOP back to the pinheads who are too afraid to tell Lord Voterfordams of eastern Washington he should have retired years ago.
Stand up!!! Before we lose our wild salmon and steelhead over four percent of our energy, 13 farms' irrigation and the Tar Sands in Canada! Seriously, is Canada incapable of building a highway from a port of their own!?!
Now can I get a witness!?! Stand up now for wild salmon and steelhead of the Snake or regret they ever existed people.
